Tesshu Fujioka (藤岡 鉄舟 Fujioka Tesshū) is a character with a dual life. By day, he works as a doctor, and by night, he takes on the role of a hired assassin. He was also a former member of the Muzen organization.

Biography[]

Tesshu Fujioka has a complex storyline in the Tenchu series. He initially assassinates Tokubei Echigoya but fails to kill Nasu due to Rikimaru's intervention. Tesshu later infiltrates Gohda Castle and has a drawn battle with Rikimaru. After that, he is ordered to kill Ganda at the Buddha Temple, and he succeeds. However, he is ambushed by the Jinnai brothers, knocked unconscious, and imprisoned.

Tesshu manages to escape, and upon reaching the cemetery, he encounters his informant, Senkichi, who warns him about an impending attack on their boss, Zennosuke Otou. Tesshu rushes to the Ronin Village but arrives too late to save his boss, who is impaled. Dying, Zennosuke tasks Tesshu with one final mission: to kill the Jinnai brothers. Tesshu ruthlessly fights his way through the Jinnai brothers' men and confronts them one by one. He ultimately defeats Sakyo, the surviving brother, and the village is rigged to explode.

Tesshu survives and walks away from the burning village. He also appears in Ayame's story, where he fights her, thinking she killed his boss. However, their fight ends quickly when Tesshu realizes Ayame is an Azuma Ninja. He later assists Ayame by providing information about the Jewel of Heaven's location.

In Return from Darkness, Tesshu has two additional missions. In the Samurai Mansion mission, he is ordered to kill Yuge, a vassal of Samurai Tadokoro who plans to use ronin against Lord Gohda. Tesshu knows that killing Tadokoro's samurai would make him a wanted criminal, but he successfully assassinates Yuge after a tough fight. In the abandoned Temple mission, he encounters Mifuyu Tadokoro, who wants to avenge her father's death, which she mistakenly attributes to Tesshu. Tesshu defeats three ronins who were ordered to kill him and Mifuyu. He advises Mifuyu to give up the samurai life and live normally.

Abilities[]

Tenchu tesshu2

Tesshu Fujioka is known for his brutal and powerful fighting style, which combines elements of taijutsu and koppojutsu (bone-breaking techniques). During his fights, Tesshu primarily relies on punches and headbutts to cripple and defeat his opponents. He also uses acupuncture needles with surgical precision in many of his stealth kills. Tesshu's sheer brute strength and natural physical resiliency make him a formidable fighter who can withstand a significant amount of physical damage.

As an assassin for the underground organization Muzen, Tesshu is driven by a strong sense of justice. He believes in serving justice through murder but maintains a calm and almost cold personality. Tesshu briefly engages in a rivalry with Rikimaru when they have a drawn battle after Rikimaru intervenes in Tesshu's attempt to eliminate Nasu.
