Activision is a video game publisher, majority owned by French conglomerate Vivendi SA. It was founded on October 1, 1979[1] and was the world's first independent developer and distributor of video games for gaming consoles. Activision is now one of the largest third party video game publishers in the world and was also the top publisher for 2007 in the United States.[2]
When Actiivision sold the rights to Tenchu to From Software, they retained the rights to the original two games. In 2015 they lost the rights to the Stealth Assassins trademark. in 2020 the original developer, Acquire, registered Stealth Assassins as a trademark in Japan. This has lead many industry pundits to speculate they are planning remakes of Stealth Assassins and Birth of the Stealth Assassins.
